where it began

I remember drawing this when I was five years old, lying on the carpet in my dad's office and studying his chair. I couldn't understand why the handles looked wrong on paper — I was drawing them the way I knew they should look, not the way I was actually seeing them.

That was the moment I discovered perspective. I learned that drawing wasn't about copying what I remembered, but about truly looking, noticing, and translating what was in front of me onto the page.
